Livestock farming and the meat industry accounts for 18% of human-produced greenhouse gas emmissions into the atmosphere. If Americans shifted their diets away from meat and towards protein-enriched plants, that would significantly decrease carbon-dioxide emissions and reduce the amount of land used for livestock farming.
